SEO and AI search
Getting found on Google and cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Most of the technical work is the same: fast pages that read well even without JavaScript.
SEO
The work on the site:
- a title and description for every page, written around what your customers search for;
- fast pages on phones too, measured with Google's Core Web Vitals;
- schema.org structured data: who you are, where you are, opening hours, products;
- sitemap, Search Console, and redirects from the old addresses when you rebuild the site;
- for multilingual sites, one address per language and hreflang tags;
- for a local business, the Google Business Profile listing as well.
Getting cited by AI
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers read websites and cite the pages they take information from. The work to appear there is called GEO, Generative Engine Optimization. It needs nearly everything SEO needs, with a few extra points:
- the important text is in the HTML, because many AI crawlers don't run JavaScript;
- pages answer specific questions with concrete facts (timescales, areas served, what you do and don't do) that a model can repeat;
- robots.txt lets GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and the others through, if you want to appear.
I can add an llms.txt file too, but so far the big engines haven't said they use it.
What I don't promise
Nobody can guarantee first place on Google or a mention in ChatGPT. I can get the site into the right shape and show you in Search Console how searches and clicks change.
